If I Had a Crystal Ball

If I had a crystal ball heading into 2020, I might have seen what was coming. I might have known early that a virus was poised to race around the globe and kill hundreds of thousands of people. I might have seen that entire sectors of our economy would collapse and we would descend into some of the most politically and socially divisive times our nation has ever seen.

I might have also seen that there would be a coming together of people in ways I could not have imagined. I might have seen that things previously considered impossible are possible indeed, like take-out cocktails and zoom appointments with my doctor. I might have seen that the natural world starts healing almost immediately when we give her a break and a chance to rest.

But I didn’t.

And so I experienced 2020, just like you did, and coped as best I could. We all did what we could to stay sane, connected and healthy. And here we are in the first few days of 2021, hoping things will improve this year but not entirely sure what that might look like.

I have to be honest: I’m not sure a crystal ball would have helped with 2020. If it had revealed anything like what actually happened, I would probably be wishing that I had held on to my receipt, and calling to see if this thing was still under warranty.

Nevertheless when I look within, this is what I see:

  • I see that our isolation has shown us how much we need each other. I also see the deep irony in that.
  • I see that the little moments, the ones we easily pass by or forget about, are not really that little. They are actually the stuff of which our lives are made.
  • I see that our health and overall state of wellness is something we simply MUST nurture and can’t take for granted. It’s everything.
  • I can see that the message of sanctuary has never been more important and more relevant. We all need to create peace around us, and inspire peace within. The time is NOW.
  • I see that there are alternative sources for toilet paper that are truly awesome, allowing us to bypass the barren aisles of the grocery store altogether.
  • I see how fortunate I am to be able to continue working, raising my family, contributing to my community, all while living and developing the sanctuary philosophy.
  • I see clearly that we are moving from an era of concern for ourselves as individuals into an era of being conscious of how we fit into the greater collective (thank goodness). For us to evolve, we must move forward together.

Philip and I wish for you and your loved ones a most abundantly prosperous year. We’re so glad you’ve come on this journey with us. May you find sanctuary in every moment of every day.

With love and gratitude,

Lisa

P.S. I’ve been spending some time going deep on what is to come for Finding Sanctuary. Good things will be coming this year. I can’t wait to share them with you! -L
