It's Up to Us

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

I hope this post finds you feeling abundant. I have really been struck by just how much we have to be grateful for. So much. Some of the first blessings that came to mind were my health, each other, the beautiful weather we’ve been having in Naples, the insane leftovers stuffed into my fridge. Seriously, my household could eat for a month without going to the grocery store once (except maybe to grab a few fresh veggies).

I love the entire concept of abundance. It follows presence and gratitude so naturally. We pause (being present), notice what is good (being abundant), and in expressing our thankfulness (being grateful), we notice even more of what is good. It’s one of the best, slippery slopes we can possibly slide down.

In the midst of this revelation, which came back to me on a big walk I took by myself this morning, something else came through too.

We are manifesting things and situations all the time, whether we realize it or not.

Wait, what?!

It’s true.

When we understand that we are manifesting with every thought we have in our head, we are given power over almost every aspect of our lives.

I believe that we can create our own reality, after a fashion, with our thoughts. There are as many different ways to do this are there are people talking about it, but generally manifesting consists of forming an intention, getting really clear on the outcome we desire, surrounding it with positive feeling, and then releasing it into the universe. Here’s one author’s take on the process.

That is amazing, earth-shattering stuff. But what about times when we don’t get what we want?

Well, I suspect we are our own worst enemies when it comes to this issue.

The trick is in being super clear in our intention and not sending mixed messages to follow up our thought of what we desire — not getting bogged down in fear or worry or feelings of lack or unworthiness.

Negative thoughts cancel out the ability to attract what we want. I think of it like saying “I want a bigger house,” and then immediately following that thought with, “but how on earth will I afford it in this crazy market?!” That second thought is me not being ready to have a bigger house. And that’s okay — maybe it’s not the right time for me to go there, but it’s an interesting illustration on how the energy of manifesting works. It shows us the power we have at our disposal to shape our lives and circumstances.

So how do we use it? I have been following my beloved friend and mentor Kisma for years and she has really helped me to tap into my own ability to create the life I want and to fill it with prosperity. 80% of the time, I do great. And then that sneaky 20% shows up and I sabotage myself and get all turned upside down. I think it’s being human. But at least when we understand how the energy works, we can course correct and get back to what we know to be true. Thoughts are things. We have to use them wisely.

Moving from Thanksgiving into the weeks leading up to the December and January holidays, I have been thinking today about what I want to manifest so I can be really clear.

I want a month of continued abundance and clarity. I want sanctuary in my every day. I want to finish the final paper for my master’s degree class ahead of schedule (remind me later that I said this) and to attract a couple of new design projects. So be it.

What do you want to attract in the coming month? Tell me in the comments below — I always love to hear.

With love, gratitude and manifesting prowess,

Lisa
