The Sanctuary Solution

What problem does sanctuary solve?

I was asked this recently and found it so thought provoking I wanted to share it with you and see what you might have to add.

Here’s my initial take on the troubles sanctuary addresses:

  • The rub. We’re all feeling it right now. I had to concentrate on unclenching my jaw as I had a call with a customer service person this week. Angst is almost in the air.
  • Too much. Too much going on, too many headlines. Too many emails, too much on the schedule.
  • Missing inspiration. Scrolling through social media and watching television - does that refresh our spirit? No. Not really. Not like a meditation or a walk outside to connect with nature.
  • Numbness. I suspect many of us feel numb these days. Numbness can be a kind of emotional burnout. Because of overstimulation, we become numb to the things that we would otherwise be grateful for.

This can result in us asking ourselves what’s it all for.

Dismal thoughts? Maybe. But examining them brings the opportunity for clarity and transformation.

Sanctuary is a portal or doorway into that sacred, peaceful, inner space that we all carry inside us. It brings relief. It brings a deep exhalation and a letting go of the tension that’s been gathering in our shoulders. It offers us a more peaceful, harmonious path when we feel blinded by the constant barrage of flashing lights, advertisements and demands of our lives.

If you knew there was a tool at hand to help you weather the craziness of life in our modern day, would you use it? I would. I do, in fact. Every. Single. Day.

You (yes, YOU) can create around you a peaceful environment that will inspire that same peaceful environment inside you. And it doesn’t have to cost you anything. In fact, creating sanctuary for yourself is perfectly free. Isn’t that utterly magical?!

Each one of us has the ability to intentionally create and live (and work) within spaces of sanctuary that can nurture our bodies and our souls. Spaces that can help us resonate with an energetic frequency that is higher than the one where we experience the rub, the too much-ness of it all, the lack of inspiration and even the numbness that is so pervasive in our world.

We transform our spaces and in so doing, we transform ourselves. We transform our lives.

Inner space and outer space. They are but two sides of the very same coin. They reflect each other. This is the ultimate truth and clarity we need to bring transformation front and center in our daily experience.
